Swiss Import Promotion Programme

Overall goal

Improve the exports in the specific economic sectors and contribute to increased income and jobs in program’s 11 emerging and developing countries including Peru, Colombia, South Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Tunisia and Morocco and Viet Nam.

IMPLEMENTING AGENCIES AND DONOR

The project is funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), implemented by SwissContact and HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation. 

PARTNERS

  • BHP Brugger and Partners LTD as advisors to the Program;
  •  IPD (Import Promotion Desk, Germany), CBI (Centre for the Promotion of Imports, Netherlands), IIHA (Import Information Hub Austria), TRIC (European Trade Promotion Network) and ITC (International Trade Centre – UN Organisation) are the key partners to achieve extended access to buyers‘ network through synergies and cooperation
  • In Viet Nam, Business Support Organizations (BSOs), i.e. associations in wood products and value-added-textiles sectors are being finalised for implement the Program together with Helvetas and SIPPO Viet Nam team.

OBJECTIVES

  • The Vietnam component will enhance the performance of selected BSOs in Vietnam in order to enable them to provide export promotion services in 02 main sectors of Value Added Textiles and Wooden Products in an effective, efficient and sustainable way.

APPROACH

  • “Last mile” approach that facilitates market access for exporters of developing countries of emerging markets by connecting them with importers from Switzerland, the EU or regional markets of relevance or directly with end- customers;
  • BSO plays the central role in the program with main responsibility as ‘last mile’ export promotion service providers to generate multiplier effects and to support the sustainability of the programme;
  • Making existing information and services better accessible for BSOs and exporters rather than duplicating or competing with already existing services through an internet-based SIPPO collaboration platform;

KEY EXPECTED RESULTS

  • SIPPO brand is known in target countries and among trade organization in Switzerland and EU;
  • BSOs are strengthened and able to provide ‘last mile’ services sustainably, effectively and efficiently to an increasing number of members through built capacity in:
    • Identification of the right  markets for the right products through its market intelligence component
    • Provision of export promotion services of high quality to their members/companies => acquisition of new members
    • Access to a unique European buyer network through SIPPO and its networking partners (B2B)
    • Improved Customer Relationship Management and Performance measurement
    • Access to Trade Promotion Collaboration Platform (E-learning, Market Intelligence, e-Library, exchange of experience).
  • A number of binding offers increase to 24,000 to 30,000 per sector which help to create or retain 13,000 to 16,000n additional jobs under the Programme.
